Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 4 ThunderWolves stay unbeaten with 4-0 win over Oklahoma Christian

PUEBLO, Colo. (September 16, 2023) - The No. 4 ranked Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team pushed its win streak to four games and third clean sheet win of the season following a 4-0 win over Oklahoma Christian on Saturday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

The ThunderWolves received two goals by Gabriel Campora (Sr., Saltillo, Mexico) and goals from Jake Feiner (Gr., Erie, Colo.) and Joseph Baston (Sr., Newport, Wales).

The Pack out shot the Eagles by a 13-3 clip and was the more aggressive and dominant team throughout the match. Ricardo Schroeder Jr., (Sr., Parana, Brazil) led all players with three shots.

"Fantastic effort on game two of the weekend. Our press and counter was outstanding," said Pack Head Coach Oliver Twelvetrees. "Gabriel was so clinical, with his finishing and also his link up play with Caio especially was great to see."

Campora scored early during the 3rd minute to go ahead 1-0 off a 40-yard shot and goal by Campora.

The Pack added a second goal in the 21' when Caio Oliveira (Sr., Espigao D'Oeste, Brazil) dribbled through the defense and found Campora who found the back of the net.

CSU Pueblo added a third goal of the first period after Feiner struck the back of the net after receiving a pass from Will Boyle (So., Fort Collins, Colo.).

In the second half, the ThunderWolves continued to play aggressive and used a strong outing by the play at midfield to slow down the pace and cause the Eagles to scramble and chase the ball.

With less than 20 minutes left in regulation, CSU Pueblo fended off a small Eagles attack.

The Pack found possession in the final third of the pitch with fifteen minutes left and Oliveira served in a free kick and found Baston for his first goal of the season.

The ThunderWolves were able to control the ball over the last ten minutes to secure the shutout.

At the net, Pack goalkeepers Tristan Whitlock (So., Lincoln, Neb.) and Ruben Volkert (Fr., Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany) each recorded 45 minutes at the net and combined for the shutout.

Twelvetrees added, "Another clean sheet was really important for our defense to continue to build confidence. (We're) looking forward to facing conference rivals in nonconference games next week."

CSU Pueblo (5-0-1) will go back on the road next week for nonconference matches Thursday at Mines and Sunday at UCCS.
