PUEBLO, Colo. – During the recently completed 2023 spring semester, Colorado State University Pueblo student-athletes achieved a 3.206 term GPA. Seventy-six Pack student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 grade point average, and 204 student-athletes achieved a GPA of 3.5 or better and 328 student-athletes had GPA's of 3.0 or better.

"Just over five years ago, our student-athlete grade point average was 3.03. Now, our student-athletes boast a 3.21 GPA among 675 student-athletes. What an incredible improvement!,"  CSU Pueblo Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships Dr. Paul Plinske said. "This is a critical milestone for us since this mark exceeds our #Developing Champions academic goal of 3.10 per academic year. I am very proud of our student-athletes and grateful for our coaches and staff who work tirelessly to provide a top-notch educational environment."
 
Fifteen of CSU Pueblo's 21 athletic teams recorded a team GPA of 3.0 or above, including five programs recording a GPA of 3.5 or better. The women's volleyball team finished with a department best 3.857 GPA during the spring semester. In addition to the women's volleyball team, the other programs with GPA's over 3.5 were – women's cross country (3.776), women's track & field (3.764), women's soccer (3.713) and men's golf (3.590).  

"I am so proud of the work our student-athletes put into their academics. As we continue to elevate our department in all areas, the dedication our student athletes have towards earning their degree goes unmatched," said Kelly Perry, CSU Pueblo Associate Athletic Director/SWA/Compliance and Internal Operations. "This year, our student-athletes set the bar and expectations high for future Thunderwolves, not only with their GPA's but with our high number of graduates. I am excited what they do next!"

The other Pack programs that recorded a 3.0 GPA or better during the spring semester were baseball (3.017), football (3.046), men's soccer (3.157), men's track & field (3.258), men's wrestling (3.044), men's cross country (3.268), softball (3.334), women's swimming (3.356), women's basketball (3.279) and women's golf (3.256).
 
When combining the 2022 fall semester with the 2023 spring semester, CSU Pueblo's student-athletes finished the 2022-23 academic year with a combined GPA of 3.218. During the fall semester, CSU Pueblo's athletic teams recorded a 3.229 term GPA. For the school year, 16 of the Pack's 21 athletic programs finished with 3.0 or better GPA's, including the volleyball team leading the way with a 3.790 GPA for the 2022-23 school year. On the men's side, the cross country team led the way with a 3.485 GPA for the 2022-23 school year.

At this spring's graduation ceremony that was held at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl on May 13, 88 CSU Pueblo student-athletes graduated. Twenty-one of those graduated student-athletes completed their collegiate academic careers with a 3.75 or better cumulative GPA.   

At the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year, 18 CSU Pueblo student-athletes have recorded a cumulative GPA of 4.0, while 192 student-athletes have had a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and 328 have recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

CSU Pueblo Athletics currently features 21 intercollegiate athletic teams competing at the NCAA Division II level and the school is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
