NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday announced their All-Region honorees in each of the NCAA regions and a total of nine Colorado State University Pueblo men and women earned All-South Central Region Outdoor Track and Field honors.
The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top three relay teams. The regions used in this awards – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the indoor track and field season.
The Pack men earned All-South Central Region honors in three different events as sophomore
Reece Sharman-Newell (Hampshire, England) was All-Region in the 800-meters, while senior
Nate Miller (Colorado Springs, Colo./Widefield) and junior
Justin Jenks (Helena, Mont./Helena Capital) were All-Region in the shot put and Jenks earned All-Region accolades in the hammer throw. Senior
Carl Schmidt (Wiesbaden, Germany/Elly-Heuss School) was All-Region in the 400 hurdles.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, sophomore
Helen Braybrook (Frieston, United Kingdom/Oakham School) earned All-Region honors in both the 800 meters and 1,500 meters, while sophomore
Katherine Higgins (Mead, Colo./Ponderosa) was All-Region in the shot put and discus and freshman
Febe Wessels (Pretoria, South Africa) earned All-Region accolades in both the shot put and javelin. Freshman Bailey Graves (Laurel, Mont./Laurel) was All-Region in the javelin and sophomore
Mikayla Jones (Aurora, Colo./Vista Peak Prep) was All-Region in the high jump.
Seven of CSU Pueblo's nine All-Region honorees qualified for the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships that are scheduled for next weekend (May 25-27) at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colo. The Pack student-athetes competing in next weekend's Outdoor Nationals are Jenks and Miller in the shot put, while Sharman Newell qualified in the 800 meters, while on the women's side, Braybrook qualified in the 800 meters, while Higgins and Wessels qualified in the shot put and Higgins also qualified in the discus and Jones qualified in the high jump.
