ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (May 13, 2023) - Colorado State University Pueblo Senior men's golfer
Liam Duncan (Kirkcaldy, Scotland) punched his ticket to the NCAA DII Championships after finishing T-5th place and carded a 3-under 213 over three rounds at the NCAA West/South Central Regionals. As a team, the No. 17 Pack put forth a valiant effort and finished T-7th place, falling three strokes short of a Top 5 finish.
Duncan, along with Mauricio Figueroa of Texas A&M International, each punched their tickets to the National Championships set to take place May 22-26 at Avalon Lakes Country Club in Warren, Ohio.
Sonoma State and Western Washington both finished 3-over 867 resulting in a one-hole playoff.
Griffin Pace of Sonoma State claimed the individual medalist and carded a 12-under 204.
Throughout the tournament, Duncan sank a team-high 12 birdies en route to earning his spot as an individual. He hit a pair of birdies on the par 5 4th in each of the first two rounds including a team-high five during round two.
Matt Millar (Jr., Devon, England) placed T-22nd and carded a +2 218. Millar recovered from his first day struggles of a score of 76 and improved his scores over the last two days, 72 and 70, respectively.
Finishing T-32nd,
Jamie Roberts (Jr., Kinross Scotland) earned a 4-over 220 score and during Saturday's round three, he sank a par 5 4th in three shots.
In his first postseason experience,
Archie Wyatt (Fr., Edinburgh, Scotland) ended T-52nd and scored on eleven birdie attempts over three rounds.
Rounding out the field,
Jeffrey Nelson (So., Commerce City, Colo.) placed T-66th and earned a 10-over 226 score. Nelson accumulated six birdies including four during the third round Saturday.
CSU Pueblo finishes the 2022-23 season with three tournament wins.
