PUEBLO, Colo. (March 23, 2023) – The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team will go on the road this week and play a four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series at Colorado School of Mines beginning Friday in Golden.
The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, both days the first game is scheduled for Noon.
The ThunderWolves return to the diamond after earning a split of a four-game series against New Mexico Highlands.
Freshman Caitlyn Cole (Fr., Merced, Calif.) who has been on a tear over the last two weeks, led the offensive attack and hit two homeruns in the series and is in the midst of an 8-game hit streak. Cole leads the team in hits (31) and is tied for the team lead in homeruns with teammate Marissa Robertson (Fr., Rocklin, Calif.), the duo has hit four homeruns each this season.
Lucy Carney (So., Lakewood, Colo.) leads the pitching staff with a 6-5 record and Jacelynn Trujillo (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) has recorded a team-high 42 strikeouts.
SETTING THE STAGE
Last season, CSU Pueblo took 3-of-4 games at home against Mines. The Pack scored 19 runs in the series and won an extra-inning game, 5-3 in the series opener.
OPPONENT CAPSULE
Colorado School of Mines Orediggers (11-18, 10-10 RMAC)
Last time on the field: Mines lost three games at Fort Hays State in a nonconference match-up in Hays, Kansas. The Orediggers are led offensively by Sidney Wilson with a .385 average. In the circle, the Orediggers are guided by Sadriena Rodriguez (5-2, 2.61 ERA).
