Softball hosts New Mexico Highlands for Youth Weekend

PUEBLO, Colo. (March 17, 2023) – The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team welcomes New Mexico Highlands to Rawlings Sports Complex this week and will celebrate Youth Weekend with the first game of a four-game set begins Saturday at Noon.

Free admission for all kids 17 years and younger. Sign up your child for a chance to announce the batting lineup.

After the Saturday doubleheader, the ThunderWolves welcome all fans to stick around for an autograph session. Following the games on Sunday, the Pack will host a free clinic and another opportunity for team autographs.

The ThunderWolves return to the diamond after dropping a pair of nonconference games on Wednesday against Fort Hays State.

Caitlyn Cole (Fr., Merced, Calif.) led the team with three hits including hitting her second homerun of the season for the Pack.

Cole has the highest batting average on the team, posting a .380 average and leads with 27 hits on the year.

Lucy Carney (So., Lakewood, Colo.) leads the pitching staff with a 5-5 record and Jacelynn Trujillo (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) has recorded a team-high 34 strikeouts.

SETTING THE STAGE

Last season, CSU Pueblo swept a four-game series at home against NMHU. The Pack earned a run-rule victory in game two and shutout the Cowgirls in game three.

OPPONENT CAPSULES

New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls (10-13, 6-9 RMAC)

            Last time on the field: NMHU lost four games at home against Colorado Mesa. The Cowgirls are led offensively by Samantha Gamboa with a .458 average. In the circle, the Cowgirls are guided by Arianna Ramirez (6-5, 6.58 ERA).
