PUEBLO, Colo. (March 14, 2023) – The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team returns home to the friendly confines of Rawlings Sports Complex this week and will celebrate St. Patrick's Day when they host Fort Hays State on Wednesday in a nonconference doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. in a rare midweek contest.
The ThunderWolves welcome the Tigers after they split a four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series on the road against Fort Lewis.
The Pack offense came alive against the Skyhawks and totaled 23 runs on 29 hits, led by Caitlyn Cole (Fr., Merced, Calif.) who went 6-for-12 at the plate and hit her first collegiate homerun and scored six runs and added two doubles.
Also at the dish, Jill Bishop (Sr., Brighton, Colo.) and Marissa Robertson (Fr., Rocklin, Calif.) each belted a pair of homeruns.
Seaerra Fuentes Arellano (Sr., Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) also smacked her first homer of the season in the series opener.
Offensively, the ThunderWolves are led by Cole who boasts a .358 average along with a team-high 24 hits. Madelyn Huerta (Fr., Azusa, Calif.) is second on the team in hits with 22 and Ashley Tosh (So., Fremont, Calif.) has a .340 average.
Lucy Carney (So., Lakewood, Colo.) leads the pitching staff with a 5-4 record and a 4.67 ERA. Jacelynn Trujillo (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) leads the staff with 30 strikeouts on the season.
SETTING THE STAGE
CSU Pueblo and Fort Hays have faced off three times and the ThunderWolves trail in the series 2-1. The last time the teams played was in 2020, FHSU won 5-3 on a neutral field in Texas.

Last time on the field: Fort Hays is making a swing through Colorado and are battling MSU Denver on Tuesday. The Tigers are led offensively by Peyton Shepard with a .456 average. In the circle, FHSU is guided by Savanah Egger (6-4, 4.74 ERA).
