ThunderWolves complete 3-1 weekend at South Central Regional Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 LOS LUNAS, N.M. (February 5, 2023) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team opened the 2023 season on a high-note, and finished with a 3-1 record at the South Central Regional Tournament at Los Lunas Sports Complex.

On Saturday's opening day, the ThunderWolves won a pair of run-ruled contests and beat Western New Mexico 12-3 in the first game of the year. In game two, CSU Pueblo defeated Texas Permian Basin 14-3.

The Pack finished the weekend and went 1-1 on Sunday, beating Simon Fraser 9-8 in the first game and dropped a 12-4 decision against West Texas in the weekend finale.

Western New Mexico Recap
In the season debut for the ThunderWolves, the team racked up eleven hits and scored nine runs over two innings to beat the Mustangs. In the game, freshman Madelyn Huerta went 3-for-3 at the dish and in the circle, Lucy Carney picked up her first win for the Pack. Carney tossed 5.0 innings and allowed three runs and two earned.

Texas Permian Basin Recap
In game two of the day, CSU Pueblo secured their second run-ruled victory, winning 14-3 (6 inn.) against the Falcons. Caitlyn Cole went 4-for-5 at the plate and finished with three XBH.

Senior Jill Bishop tallied two doubles and newcomer Marissa Robertson hit her first collegiate homerun and finished 3-for-4 at the dish.

Pack hurler Jacelynn Trujillo tossed a gem and earned the win with a dominant performance in the circle.

Simon Fraser Recap
Against SFU, Isabella Hewitt hit a 2-run homerun in the second inning and in the circle, Robertson picked up her first career win after allowing eight runs and three earned. She scattered 12 hits and finished with four strikeouts.

West Texas Recap
In the weekend finale, the Pack lost 12-4 to the Lady Buffs and were held to three hits in the contest. Bishop led the team and gathered two RBI's and Robertson added an RBI-single for the Pack.

Up Next
CSU Pueblo (3-1) returns home and will begin a three-series home stand starting Saturday against Western New Mexico. The ThunderWolves and Mustangs will play a three-game nonconference starting Saturday at noon at Rawlings Sports Complex.
