ThunderWolves host Regis this week to begin RMAC play

PUEBLO, Colo. (February 17, 2023) – The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team will begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play this week with a four game series at home against Regis University beginning Saturday with a twin bill starting at Noon at Rawlings Sports Complex.

The Pack (5-2) open conference play after competing at the South Central Regional Tournament in Los Lunas, N.M. (Feb. 4-5) to start the season. The ThunderWolves beat Western New Mexico, Texas Permian Basin and Simon Fraser.

CSU Pueblo opened the home portion of the schedule last week and took 2-of-3 against the Mustangs of Western New Mexico.

Through seven games, the ThunderWolves have scored 53 runs and are batting .307. CSU Pueblo has hit three home runs, all from freshman, and have 19 extra-base hits to their record.

Freshman Madelyn Huerta (Azusa, Calif.) leads the team with ten hits and eight RBI. Ashley Tosh (So., Fremont, Calif.) and Huerta both have .500 batting averages, highest on the team.

In the circle, a pair of newcomers lead the staff with 2-0 records. Lucy Carney (So., Lakewood, Colo.) and Marissa Robertson (Rocklin, Calif.) have won each of their two outings and Carney leads the squad with a 1.17 ERA and is holding opponents to a .178 batting average.

Robertson has two appearances and two wins in her Pack debut. She holds a 2.00 ERA and opponents have a .278 average.

Last season, CSU Pueblo lost four games on the road at Regis in Denver.

Regis Rangers (3-7)

            Last time on the field: Regis started its season 1-4 at the DII Spring Invite Kickoff Tournament (Feb. 3-5), and split a pair of two-game series' at St. Mary's and St. Edward's last week. The Rangers are led offensively by Megan Clark with a .360 average. In the circle, Regis is guided by Kylie Harpman (3-2, 3.64 ERA).
