DENVER, Colo. (November 5, 2023) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team saw its season come to an end after falling 3-1 (OT) against Regis in the Quarterfinal Round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament on Sunday at Regis Turf Fields.

With the loss, CSU Pueblo finishes the year with a 7-5-6 record.

Carlia Johnson (Jr., The Valley, Anguilla) scored a goal during the 16th minute after getting a header on the ball from a ThunderWolves corner kick.

The Pack came out of the gate with high energy and recorded four shots in the first ten minutes before earning a corner kick at the 15-minute mark and Johnson was able to get enough of her body on the ball to have it fall inside the left post and into the net for the early lead.

Ashley Bennett (So., Lakeville, Minn.) was credited with an assist on the play.

CSU Pueblo tallied ten shots in the first half and earned two corners against six shots and three corners from Regis.

In the match, the Rangers outshot the ThunderWolves 26-14 and the home team finished with 16 shots landing on frame.

Cortney Cowles (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Pack with three shots and three others fired two shots for the Pack.

The ThunderWolves maintained their one goal lead for majority of the match with stellar play at midfield and on the defensive side from Ariadna Membrives Lora (Jr., Sabadell, Barcelona) and Shelby Ransom (Sr., Longmont, Colo.).

Regis recorded a flurry of shots starting in the 65th minute and continued to pressure the ball.

CSU Pueblo went a player down in the 78th minute after a red card was handed out.

Regis was finally able to find the back of the net during the 80th minute, tying the game at 1-1 with under ten minutes remaining in regulation.

The ThunderWolves offense had a last stitch effort in the final moments of the period but was unable to score, sending the game to a two 10-minute overtime.

In the first extra time period, Regis was able to score the go-ahead less than four minutes into overtime and they would add another goal five minutes later and took a commanding 3-1 lead.

For the ThunderWolves in overtime, Katie Bean (R-Jr., Bothell, Wash.) and Cowles both recorded a shot on goal.

Pack goalkeeper Nicole Genis (Sr., San Jose, Costa Rica) made a season-high 12 saves and faced 16 shots on goal and 26 total shots from Regis.
