COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  – Colorado State University Pueblo senior guard Makiah Morris (San Diego, Calif./San Diego City College) has been this week's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

With his Player of the Week honor, Morris becomes the first ThunderWolves men's basketball player to be recognized as a Player of the Week since former Pack player Isaiah Thompson was named the Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 13, 2023.

Morris earns this week's RMAC Defensive Player of the Week accolade after averaging 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.5 assists, along with scoring 13.5 points per game to help to Pack to wins this past weekend at home against Multnomah and Oklahoma Panhandle State.

The 6-foot-3 guard opened the weekend with seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and 20 points in the Pack's 68-56 win over Multnomah and then recorded one rebound, five assists, a career-high five steals and seven points in 11 minutes of action in the Pack's 100-39 win Sunday over Oklahoma Panhandle State. Morris and his teammates held their two opponents this past weekend with a total of 95 points and limited them to 32 percent shooting from the field and 12 percent (5-fof-41) shooting from the 3-point line and forced 51 turnovers, including forcing Oklahoma Panhandle State into 35 turnovers that led to 52 points for the Pack.

On the season, Morris is second on the team in scoring as he is averaging 11.7 points per game, but leads the team in rebounding (6.3 boards per game), assists (4.3 assists per game) and steals (2.7 steals per game) and is second in the league in steals and assists and 11th in rebounding. He is also shooting 47 percent from the field, 42 percent from the 3-point line and 71 percent from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, the RMAC named MSU Denver junior forward Caleb McGill as this week's Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 23.5 points per game in helping the Roadrunners improve to 6-0 on the season following wins last weekend against Seattle Pacific and Simon Fraser.

Morris and the rest of the Pack (4-2 overall) will look to extend its current four-game win streak this coming weekend (Dec. 1-2) as they open RMAC play with home games on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. against Chadron State and Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. against Colorado Christian.
