Men's Soccer earns 4-seed in NCAA Tournament; will host 5-seed Chico State Saturday

PUEBLO, Colo. (November 13, 2023) - For a third year in a row under the direction of Head Coach Oliver Twelvetrees, the Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team has earned the right to host a NCAA Tournament Match after earning the 4-seed and will take on 5-seed Chico State in a Second Round match on Saturday at 7PM at Gonzales Stadium.

The 2023 RMAC Tournament Champion ThunderWolves enter the tournament with a 15-4-2 record and are riding a four-game win streak. The Pack won the final game of the regular season and posted shutout wins in the RMAC Tournament semifinal and championship games.

Chico State enters the tournament with a 11-1-7 record. The Wildcats lost 5-4 in penalties in the first round of the CCAA Tournament against Cal State San Marcos after playing to a 1-1 tie through overtime.

This marks the first meeting between CSU Pueblo and Chico State.

This season, CSU Pueblo has been guided by senior striker Gabriel Campora (Saltillo, Mexico) who has 17 goals to his credit along with three assists. His total goals was the most the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and fourth highest in Division II.

Caio Oliveira (Sr., Espigao d'Oeste, Brazil) has eleven assists, most the in the RMAC and T-9th in Division II.

The ThunderWolves back line has been superior this season and has allowed 15 goals this year and hold a 0.71 goal per game. So far this season, the stingy Pack defense has limited opponents to 5.8 shots per game.

The Wildcats enter the tournament and are guided by Miles Rice with 19 points, scoring eight goals and three assists. Preston Moll has five goals for Chico and Adrian Fontanelli leads the charge with eight assists.

At the net, Emanuel Padilla has played 19 games and has allowed 11 goals in nearly 1700 minutes of action. He holds a 0.58 goal-against average and has a .855 save percentage.
