COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 3, 2023) - After scoring a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference wins to begin conference play, three players from the No. 8 ranked Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team earned RMAC Players of the Week honors, announced Tuesday.
CSU Pueblo's
Gabriel Campora (Sr., Saltillo, Mexico) (Offense),
Ignatius DeMark (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) (Defense)Â and
Tristan Whitlock (So., Lincoln, Neb.) (Goalkeeper) each were named RMACÂ Players of the Week for week 5.
Campora scored two goals and registered five shots and three landed on frame in 148 minutes on the pitch, helping CSU Pueblo in two wins at home. He continues to lead the RMAC in goals (10), points (22) and GWG (3) this season.
Thursday against MSU Denver, Campora and the ThunderWolves scored both goals of a 2-0 win during the first half and the offense made ten shots.
Sunday versus Mines, Campora scored the second and third goals in a 3-0 CSU Pueblo win. His first goal came shortly in the second half on a PK and the second score was in the 75th minute and helped the Pack avenge a loss just ten days before in a nonconference battle in Golden.
Defensively, DeMark scored his first goal of the season and helped the Pack to record two shutout victories to begin RMAC play. In two games, DeMark and the Pack defense held opponents to nine shots and three landing on frame.
Thursday against MSU Denver, DeMark and the ThunderWolves held the Roadrunners to four shots and one corner kick in the second half of a 2-0 win.
On Sunday, in a rematch with Mines from ten days before, DeMark scored his goal in the first minute after he was able to climb the defense from a corner kick and placed a header in the back of the net to give the Pack an early lead. The defense limited the scoring chances for the Orediggers en route to earning a sixth clean sheet victory for the Pack.
At the net, Whitlock has been a brick wall as of late for CSU Pueblo and registered the Pack's fifth and six shutout wins of the year following the 2-0 week.
In two games, Whitlock and the ThunderWolves allowed nine shots at the net and only three landing on frame. He leads the RMAC in GAA (.273) and Save Pct. (.867).
Thursday versus MSU Denver, Whitlock made two saves and faced four shots.
Sunday against Mines, Whitlock made one save and faced 12 shots in over 88 minutes of action.
The ThunderWolves have won 10 straight home matches dating back to Sept. 7, 2022.
This week, CSU Pueblo welcomes UCCS to Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium on Wednesday for a RMAC match starting at 7 p.m. The ThunderWolves wrap the week Friday at Colorado Christian.
