ALAMOSA, Colo.
- In the Colorado State University Pueblo swim & dive's return to competition for the Spring 2023 semester, a trip down to Alamosa was the first destination of the continued season. In a close event where Adams featured both Men's and Women's swimmers against CSU Pueblo's women's team, the result was a loss on the day with the ThunderWolves coming up short 536-370. Four separate members of the Pack won their respective events on the day with a team win occurring in a relay race.
In the first event of the day, two separate teams for the Pack competed in the 200-yard Medley Relay and saw finishes in second and fourth place. The team of
Carla Sanchez Guareno,
McKenna Hauber,
Nalani Wess and
Aleksandra Dutkowiak took second with a time of 1:58.27 and the team of
Makayla Seal, Kristin Wolf,
Markina Evdokimoff and
Ashley Sheppard took fourth with a time of 2:08.73.
One of CSU Pueblo's victors on the day came in the 1000-yard freestyle when
McKenna Hauber placed first at 11:52.48.
Markina Evdokimoff followed up right behind in second place at 13:17.27.
Another victor for the Pack came shortly after when the 200-yard freestyle was conducted.
Aleksandra Dutkowiak took home the win with a first place finish in a time of 2:06.24.
Nalani Wess also competed and took fifth place in 2:17.84.
In the 50-yard freestyle only one Thunderwolf competed and included
Ashley Sheppard who took fifth place in 29.17.
Yet another victor that the Pack had on the day came in the 200-yard IM with a first place finish from
Carla Sanchez Guareno in a time of 2:22.51.
In the 100-yard butterfly
Nalani Wess and Kristin Wolf both competed with finishes in third and fifth place. Wess took third place at 1:05.67 and Wolf took fifth place at 1:08.81
Ashley Sheppard competed in her lonesome once again on the 100-yard freestyle and took fourth place in a time of 1:06.02.
The 100-yard backstroke featured a single member of the Pack as well as
Aleksandra Dutkowiak took second place in 1:05.80.
The final victor of the day came in the 500-yard freestyle when
McKenna Hauber took first place with a time of 5:43.51.
Markina Evdokimoff also competed and finished in third place at 6:16.09.
Kristin Wolf came up just short of a victory as well when she swam in the 100-yard breastroke and took second place with a time of 1:13.19.
In the last event of the day, the Pack featured two relay teams in the 200-yard freestyle and included a first-place finish in one of the teams. The combined efforts of
Carla Sanchez Guareno,
McKenna Hauber,
Makayla Seal and
Aleksandra Dutkowiak took first place in a time of 1:44.58. The other team of Pack members finished in fourth place and included Kristin Wolf,
Ashley Sheppard,
Markina Evdokimoff and
Nalani Wess in a time of 1:54.99.
A total of 22 events occurred on the day between both the men's and women's swim and dive team from each university and marks the start of the spring season.

The CSU Pueblo women's swim and dive team finds themselves back in action this next weekend as they will compete in a three-day event at the Colorado College Invite. Swim days are slated for January 19th, 20th and 21st and will happen in Colorado Springs at host college Colorado College. Start times are still to be announced.
