DENVER, Colo. (Sept. 12, 2022) - No. 14 Colorado State University Pueblo men's golf showed its depth in the roster after the ThunderWolves vaulted into first place led by
Jamie Roberts at the end of the second day at The Writz at Mile High at the Bear Creek Country Club in Denver.
The ThunderWolves carded a tournament-best 6-under 354 Monday and sit atop the leader board and are ahead of Colorado Christian by eight strokes going into the final round of play.
Roberts tied for the best score in round two, carding a 5-under 67 and finished in a four-way tie for second place.
Roberts earned five birdies on the day including three on the back nine.
Also sitting in second place,
Liam Duncan and
Matt Millar both had strong outings to help the ThunderWolves stay ahead of the field.
Duncan sparked his offense by hitting an ace par-3 7th and finished 2-under on the day.
Millar scored even-par and recorded three birdies and sits at 3-under for the tournament.
Also for the ThunderWolves,
Jeffrey Nelson sits T-17th after he earned a 2-under 70 score on the day and sits +1 145 overall.
Sitting tied in 41st place,
Evan Smith recorded a +4 76 on Monday and is at +8 152 in the overall leader board.
Rounding out the field for the ThunderWolves,
Tyler Tyson carded a +3 75 during round two and sits at +10 154 after two rounds.
CSU Pueblo will look to maintain its lead when the third round gets underway with the first Pack players scheduled for a 10:24 a.m. tee time.
