NEW ORLEANS (July 15, 2022) - Scholar Athletes of the Year and All-Academic Athletes for the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track & Field seasons were announced on by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) where eight women and six men from Colorado State University Pueblo were named.
Yasmine Hernandez was named the National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year on the women's side for the first time in CSU Pueblo Track and Field history.
Both the men's and women's teams were named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team List.
Hernandez (Johnstown, Colo.) was named the NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year to headline for the Pack. Hernandez, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.965, won the 1500m run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 4:15.72 and was also a member of the National Champion Distance Medley Relay team comprised of the
Helen Braybrook, Hailey Streff, Taylor Holland and Hernandez.
Also bringing home USTFCCCA honors on the women's squad were
Katherine Higgins, Holland,
Jenna McKinley, Olivia Mikaelian, Claire Pauley, Julia Schwarzinger and Streff. The eight honorees led the Pack's women's squad to a 3.604 cumulative GPA, the best attained by any CSU Pueblo spring program the second-highest in the athletics department (women's cross country) in 2021-22.
On the men's side, six individuals earned recognition for their academic success.

Nikolaus Franzmair,
Nathan Hood,
Nate Miller,
Carl Schmidt and
Tyrell Smith all earned accolades. The Pack men brought home a GPA of 3.420 to secure a spot on the All-Academic teams list for the USTFCCCA.
