COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 6, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's track and field program sent a few athletes to compete in the Air Force Twilight Open as the teams hit tune ups before the 2022 National Championships.
Terrel Johnson (So., Fountain, Colo.) set a new program record and a new personal-best on his final jump of the afternoon with a mark of 7.25 meters in the long jump.
Nathan Hood (Sr., St. Davids, Grenada) and
Tyrell Smith (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) swept the field on the 400-meter dash with the sixth and seventh fastest times in CSU Pueblo program history. Hood claimed first with a time of 47.54, the while Smith ran for a time of 47.55 second.
Nate Miller (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and
Justin Jenks (Jr., Helena, Mont.) also topped the competition in the shot put as the duo tied for first place with a mar of 18.03 meters, which are good for the ninth longest throws in program history. Miller finished 7th in the discus with a mark of 46.51 meters while Jenks finished 11th in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.66 meters.
Hailey Streff (Sr., Madison, S.D.) also snagged a first-place finish for the ThunderWolves in the 800-meter run after crossing the line in 2:15.49.
Other ThunderWolves Performances
- Carl Schmidt (So., Wiesbaden, Germany) – Fourth-place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.44 seconds. Sixth fastest time in school history.
- Mikayla Jones (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) – new personal-best with a second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.42 meters.
- Jenna McKinley (Sr., Mosca, Colo.) – Fourth place in the shot put with a mark of 13.80 meters, fourth place in the discus with a mark of 43.64 meters, new personal-best.
- Heather Graham (Sr., Hugo, Colo.) – 10th place in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.70 meters.
- Megan Dickinson (Fr.) – 10th place in the javelin with a mark of 25.18 meters.
More of the ThunderWolves will be in action tomorrow afternoon at the Portland Twilight in Portland, Oregon.
