PUEBLO, Colo. (April 29, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's track and field programs competed in day one of the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference Championships on Friday at the ThunderBowl.
Claire Pauley (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) nearly tasted the individual title in the 10,000-meter run after starting her kick with just under 400 meters left in the race to take her first lead. Pauley went as low as fifth place in the race before running out of steam in the last 200 meters to finish second place with a time of 39:41.09.
Terrel Johnson (So., Fountain, Colo.) sits in second place in the men's decathlon with 3450 points halfway through the ten-event competition. Johnson topped the field in the long jump with a mark of 7.22 meters (866 points) and in the high jump at 1.90 meters (714 points). The sophomore ran for a time of 11.22 seconds in the 100-meter dash (812 points), 56.28 seconds in the 400-meter dash (548 points), and 10.41 meters in the shot put (510 points). Johnson sits in second place – 129 points behind Sam Repsher of UCCS and 113 points ahead of the third-place competitor Conor McGraw from Black Hills State.
Nikolaus Franzmair (Fr.) ran his way into the finals in a stacked 1,500-meter run preliminaries with a time of 4:07.81 and the eighth fastest time in the competition. The finals for the men's 1500-meter run will be on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

- Crystal Armijo (Fr.) – 7th in the 10,000-meter run in 40:30.22.
- Nathaniel Richardson (Fr.) – 11th in the 400-meter dash in 50.55 seconds.
- Lucas Westbrook (So., Loveland, Colo.) – 12th in the 10,000-meter run in 32:14.83.
- Andrew Cook (So., Tucson, Ariz.) – 15th in the 100-meter dash in 11.04 seconds.
- Margot Thomas-Gatel (Fr., Ile-de-France, France) - 19th in the 1,500-meter run in 5:06.15.
- Cole Munoz (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) – 21st in the 10,000-meter run in 33:25.34.
- Matthew Roberds (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) – 22nd in the 10,000-meter run in 33:31.21.
The heptathlon and decathlon will continue first thing in the morning at 9:45 a.m. with field events starting at 2 p.m. Running events on the track will begin at the ThunderBowl at 4:30 p.m. with the women's 200-meter dash preliminaries.
