Johnson Tabs Third in Decathlon on Day 2 of RMAC Championships

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 30, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's track and field programs wrapped up day two of the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a third-place finish in the decathlon and one more ticket punched to Sundays finals.
 
After starting his day in second place, Terrel Johnson (So., Fountain, Colo.) tabbed a third-place finish in the decathlon. Johnson tabbed 680 points with the third best time in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.48 seconds and 617 points in the 1500-meter run, the final event of the competition, with a time of 4:50.28. The sophomore also earned 475 points in the discus, 469 points in the pole vault, and 453 points in the javelin for a total of 6144 points - a new personal-best and CSU Pueblo program record.
 
Kaleb Tipton (Fr.) ran his way in to the finals in the 800-meter run with the third fastest time out of the three heats in 1:54.85.
 
Other ThunderWolves Performances
  • Heather Graham (Sr., Hugo, Colo.) – 6th in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.43 meters and 17th in the discus with a mark of 36.44 meters.
  • Elizabeth James (Fr.) – 8th in the discus with a mark of 38.62 meters.
  • David Parker (Fr.) – 12th in the discus with a mark of 44.44 meters.
  • Taylor Holland (Fr., Alamosa, Colo.) – 13th in the 800-meter dash in 2:18.01.
 
The final day of the 2022 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will begin with the women's pole vault and triple jump beginning at 9:30 a.m. inside the ThunderBowl. Running events are slated to begin at 11 a.m. with the 4x400-meter relays.
