ALAMOSA, Colo. (April 23, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team recorded 22 runs and tallied 27 hits including ten hits for extra bases in a doubleheader sweep of Adams State, Saturday at ASU Softball Field.
The Pack won the first game of the series 10-4 and continued to be aggressive at the plate in a 12-9 victory in game two.
On the day,
Delaney Barela (So., Pueblo, Colo.),
Isabel Griego (Sr., Loveland, Colo.),
Katelynn Ralston (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.), and
Raelynn Rogers (Fr., Surprise, Ariz.) all finished with four hits. Rogers totaled four runs and Barela and Ralston had an RBI and run scored each.
Jill Bishop (Jr., Brighton, Colo.) had a 6 RBI day that included a four-RBI performance in game one.
Hannah Hackney (Sr., Erie, Colo.) added another homerun, her ninth of the year, and a double to go with three RBI in two games.
In the circle, both starting pitchers for CSU Pueblo earned victories.
Sophia Lishner (So., Gilbert, Ariz.) went the distance in game one and gave up four runs on eight hits. She allowed three walks and improves to 6-8 on the year.
Starting in the circle for game two, Ralston pitched 6 1/3 innings and gave up nine runs and eight earned. She gave up 12 free passes and finished with two strikeouts.
Taylor Puga (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) was called on in the seventh inning retired the side with the bases loaded, earning her first career save with the ThunderWolves.
With the win, Ralston improves to 6-3 on the year.
Seaerra Fuentes Arellano (Jr., Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) hit an inside-the-park homerun in the fourth inning of game two for the ThunderWolves.
The team tallied two stolen bases on the day, extending their lead in the conference.
CSU Pueblo (20-19, 16-18 RMAC) will wrap the series with the Grizzlies with another doubleheader scheduled on Sunday. First pitch with the Grizzlies is set for 11 a.m. at ASU Softball Field.
