Action Packed Weekend for ThunderWolves Track & Field Programs

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 16, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's track and field programs had a busy weekend where the teams split up to compete in four different meets at three different schools.
 
Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by Long Beach State
 
Tyrell Smith (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.08 seconds and teammate Carl Schmidt (SO., Wiesbaden, Germany) also snagged a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.07 seconds.
 
In the shot put, Nate Miller (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Justin Jenks (So., Helena, Mont.) topped the competition and placed first and second, respectively, with Miller tossing a mark of 18.59 meters and Jenks 18.36 meters. Jenks also placed 21st in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.26 meters.
 
Julia Schwarzinger (Fr.) finished 7th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.38 seconds and 18th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.45 seconds. Jenna McKinley (Sr., Mosca, Colo.) placed 18th in the shot put with a mark of 13.96 meters.
 
Bryan Clay Invite hosted by Azusa Pacific
 
Reece Sharman-Newell (Fr.) topped over 190 athletes and placed second, behind CSU Pueblo alum Thomas Staines (1:45.28), in the 800-meter after crossing the line in 1:45.56. The time is the fastest time in the NCAA all divisions this season and the fastest time in CSU Pueblo history.

  • Kaleb Tipton (So., Lawton, Okla.) 400-meter dash 38th place 49.30 seconds, 800-meter run 61st place 1:51.48
  • Jack Dickson (Fr.) 400-meter dash 80th place 52.22 seconds, 800-meter run 38th place 1:54.42
  • Schwarzinger 100-meter dash 89th place 12.57 seconds, 200-meter dash 57th place 25.26 seconds
  • Nikolaus Franzmair (Fr.) 800-meter run 82nd place 1:52.10, 1500-meter run 104th place 3:46.81
  • Yasmine Hernandez (Gr., Johnstown, Colo.) 800-meter run 11th place 2:03.74 (2nd fastest time in NCAA DII this season, fastest time in CSU Pueblo history), 1500-meter run 20th place 4:18.91 (fastest time in NCAA DII this season)
  • Hailey Streff (Sr., Madison, S.D.) 800-meter run 37th place 2:08.24 (5th fastest time in NCAA DII this season), 1500-meter 54th place 4:23.37 (8th fastest time in NCAA DII this season)
  • Helen Braybrook (Fr.) 800-meter run 48th place 2:09.57 (9th fastest time in NCAA DII this season), 1500-meter open 16th place 4:30.42
  • Taylor Holland (Fr., Alamosa, Colo.) 800-meter run 122nd place 2:15.65, 1500-meter open 55th place 4:53.77
 
The ThunderWolves men's 4x400-meter relay team snagged a first-place finish with a time of 3:10.58 Schmidt and consisted of Sharman-Newell, Hood, Smith. The time is good for the fourth fastest time in NCAA DII this season.
 
Mavericks Invite #2 hosted by Colorado Mesa
 
Lucas Westbrook (So., Loveland, Colo.) ran a new personal-best while grabbing first-place in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:14.91.
 
Claire Pauley (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) also earned a first-place finish in the 10,000-meter run after crossing in 38:38.44 while teammate Heather Graham (Sr., Hugo, Colo.) placed first in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.80 meters and second in the shot put with a mark of 12.41 meters.

  • Ritchie Roberds (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) 5000-meter run 6th place 15:38.07
  • Daniel Beam (Fr.) 5000-meter run 10th place 15:54.15
  • Konrad Raum (Fr.) 5000-meter run 22nd place 15:59.55
  • David Parker (Fr.) discus 2nd place 44.27 meters, shot put 3rd place 14.10 meters
  • Lainee Vujcich (Fr.) 100-meter dash 6th place 13.56 seconds
  • Emily Dibonas (So., Thorton, Colo.) 400-meter dash 2nd place 1:01.43, 200-meter dash 7th place 26.37 seconds
  • Erin Case (So., Parker, Colo.) 400-meter dash 3rd place 1:02.45, 200-meter dash 10th place 27.17 seconds
  • Megan Dickinson (Fr.) 200-meter dash 13th place 29.07 seconds, javelin 2nd place 32.29 meters
  • Gabrielle Janes (Fr.) 400-meter dash 7th place 1:12.43, 200-meter dash 14th place 30.22 seconds
  • Margot Thomas-Gatel (Fr., Ile-de-France, France) 5,000-meter run 8th place 19:16.89
  • Crystal Armijo (Fr.) 10,000-meter run 4th place 40:29.16
  • Mikayla Jones (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) triple jump 3rd place 11.12 meters, high jump 5th place 1.60 meters
  • Elizabeth James (Fr.) discus 4th place 33.88 meters, javelin 4th place 36.38 meters, shot put 8th place 9.56 meters

  • Miller placed second in the shot put with a mark of 18.79 meters
  • Jenks placed 14th in the shot put with a mark of 17.06 meters
  • McKinley finished 35th in the shot put with a mark of 13.69 meters
