Mesa, Ariz. (March 23, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's tennis team had their chances and dominated in the double's competitions, but come up short 6-3 against Mesa Community College.
Tilly Blasdale (So., Dover, United Kingdom) took the first set over Brianna Clayton 7-5 before Clayton followed with a 7-5 win to tie the match. Clayton came out on top with a hard-fought 10-8 win over Blasdale.
Katherine Ambrose (Fr.), who joined the team this semester, earned the only win for the ThunderWolves in the singles competitions with a 6-0, 6-1 win over MCC's Zari Williams.
Roma Cordova (So., Belen, N.M.) lost to Kendra Farrell and
Alyssa Wells (So., Converse, Texas) lost to Alethea LaCroix with both scores being 6-3, 6-0.
Malaya Pendon (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) lost 6-1, 6-3 to Brianna Wallen as
Sonrisa Bustamante (So., Pueblo, Colo.) ended singles with a tough loss to Kylie Williams. Bustamante fell in the first set 6-2 before dominating set two to a 6-3 win. In the deciding set, Bustamante ran out of fuel as Williams walked away with a 10-6 win.
The ThunderWolves seemed to matchup better against the Thunderbirds as they were able to win two of the three matches.
Blasdale and Ambrose kicked things off with an 8-5 win over Clayton and Z. Williams while Wells and Pendon earned the second Pack win with a 9-7 win over Farrell and Wallen.
Cordova and Bustamante lost to K. Williams and LaCroix, 8-4.
The ThunderWolves will be back in action against RMAC foe MSU Denver on April 1st.
