GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's basketball team fell in the season-finale to Colorado School of Mines 72-65 after leading for majority of the game.
The ThunderWolves trailed early in the first half but took control of the tempo of the game to end the half on a 10-2 run as
Lian Ramiro (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) knocked down a triple at the buzzer and walk into the locker room with a 36-30 lead.
Ramiro opened the second half with another 3-pointer and the Pack were able to extend their lead to as much as 45-35 with 15:53 left in the game, but the Orediggers slowly chipped away at the lead, and eventually took a 61-59 lead with 4:00 minutes to play.
Ramiro later missed a three to tie the game with 1:20 on the clock as the Orediggers held the Pack to 2 of 6 shooting of the last four minutes of play and a 72-65 win.
Meekness Payne (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) ended the night with 16 points and 2 rebounds off the bench while Ramiro added 15 points, 7 assists, and 4 steals while knocking down three 3's.
De'Shaun Cooper (Fr., Poway, Calif.) rounded out the ThunderWolves double-digit scoring with 12 points and 3 rebounds.
The ThunderWolves end the season with a 12-16 overall record which included 9-13 (10th overall) in RMAC play.
