GOLDEN, Colo. (Feb. 20, 2022) – It was a much-needed fine-tuning for the Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's track and field teams at the Mines Twilight as the squads gear up for the RMAC Championships this coming weekend.
The women's team was led by
Katherine Higgins (Fr., Castle Rock, Colo.) who tabbed a first-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 14.65 meters and followed that with a fifth-place finish in weight throw with a mark of 14.40 meters.
Jenna McKinley (Sr., Mosca, Colo.) tabbed two second-place finishes, one in the shot put and the other in the weight throw with marks of 14.09 and 15.67 meters, respectively.
Heather Graham (Sr., Hugo, Colo.) finished fourth in the shot put at 11.78 meters and fourth weight throw at 14.84 meters while teammate
Olivia Mikaelian (Fr., Albuquerque, N.M.) placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 15.15 meters.
Mikayla Jones (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) grabbed a third-place finish in the high jump at 1.56 meters.
On the track,
Erin Case (So., Parker, Colo.) finished 3rd in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.64 and
Lainee Vujcich (Fr.) finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.39 seconds.
On the men's side,
Justin Jenks (Jr., St. Davids, Grenada) threw over 19 meters for the second straight weekend and grabbed a first-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 19.07 meters. Jenks also tabbed first-place in the weight throw with a mark of 18.61 meters.
Nate Miller (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) was right behind in second place at 18.88 meters in the shot put while grabbing a third-place finish in the weight throw at 17.25 meters.
Andrew Cook (So., Tucson, Ariz.) snagged a first-place finish in the 60-meter dash after crossing the line in 7.06 seconds while
Nathaniel Richardson (Fr.) also earned a first-place finish for the Pack in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.44 meters.
Teammates
David Parker (Fr.) and
Lucas Moran (Fr.) also snagged top eight finishes in the shot put as Parker finished sixth place at 13.61 meters and Moran finished eighth at 10.98 meters.
The Pack return to action on Friday, February 25th and Saturday, February 26th at the Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference Indoor Championships in Gunnison, Colo.
