GOLDEN, Colo. (February 13, 2022) -
Devin Lueck (R-So., Fountain, Colo.) and
Gabriel Taboa (Fr., Jerome, Idaho) of the Colorado State University Pueblo wrestling team competed and placed fourth and fifth, respectively in the 133-pound bracket Sunday at the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Open hosted by Colorado School of Mines.
Lueck went 3-2 on the day that included one win by fall in his second match versus Randy Guerra of Western Colorado. In the third place match against Colorado Mesa's Oran Huff, Lueck lost by a 19-2 tech fall.
Taboa's afternoon included seven matches where he went 5-2 on the day. Following a first match loss, Taboa bounced back and on his journey through the bracket and fifth place match, posted two wins by fall, the first coming against Adams State's Miguel Sanchez and the next versus Guerra from Western.
At 174,
Remington Winmill (Fr., Wendell, Idaho) finished sixth and recorded one win by fall.
Dominic Robles (So., Pueblo, Colo.) went 2-2 on the day in the 184 pound bracket and in one of his two wins, earned an 11-3 major decision over WCU's Emilio Chavez.
CSU Pueblo turn its attention to the the NCAA Super Region VI Championship in Grand Junction on Feb. 26.
