BROOKFIELD, Ill. (Feb. 1, 2022) – The 2021 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team was announced late Monday evening and named
Justin Dwinell and
Ikenna Onwuasoanya to the Honorable Mention list to add to each of the Colorado State University Pueblo football players' resumes.
Receiving a Don Hansen All-American Honorable Mention award was sophomore punter, Dwinell (Colorado Springs, Colo.). The punter earned his honorable mention spot after being one of the most consistent punters in the country this past season. The sophomore ranked sixth in the nation with 43.13 yards per punt and sat seventh in the country after he netted an average of 38.39 yards. The honorable mention nod from is the first of his career and is his eighth postseason honor for his 2021 performance.
Onwuasoanya (DL, Sr., Houston) added his honorable mention to a long list of post-season accolades for his impressive 2021 season on defense for the Pack. The defensive lineman led the team with 17.5 tackles for loss and tallied the second most sacks for the Pack after he racked up nine on the season. Onwuasoanya's nine sacks were good enough for the third-most in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
CSU Pueblo concluded its 2021 season with a 6-5 record overall and looks ahead to the 2022 season which kicks off at Midwestern State on Sept. 3.
