PACK WRESTLING HAVE SEVEN CHAMPIONS AT DOUG MOSES OPEN IN NEW MEXICO

LAS VEGAS, N.M. (December 3, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo wrestling team competed in the Doug Moses Open held in Las Vegas, New Mexico on Saturday, December 3rd.

Schools consisted of Adams State, Arizona Christian University, Colorado School of Mines, Embry-Riddle (Ariz.), New Mexico Highlands, Otero College, and Western Colorado.  
 
At 125 pounds, the Pack's Dominick Castro took first place using a pair of falls and a 14-10 decision over New Mexico Highlands Rhys Sellers.  Devin Lueck took sixth place by winning with a decision and major decision.  
 
Marquis Kemp took first place at 133, winning his championship match 8-5 over Western Colorado's Noah Kasprowics.  Kemp won using two decisions and a fall before reaching the finals.  Dawson Fanscher placed fifth at 133.  
 
Cole Bennett used two decisions before ultimately falling to Angel Flores of Adams State in the championship match to finish runner-up at 149.  Conor Goucher also won four matches at 149 pounds to finish in fourth place.  
 
Cyruss Meeks had a dominating day by winning four matches, two being falls and his championship match by major decision to win at 157 pounds.  
 
Elijah Valdez also finished in first place by winning by tech fall in his semifinal match and then defeating Stone Aguirre of Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) by a 2-1 decision.  
 
Tytus Coombs took home the gold finishing in first place, winning with a fall, decision and ultimately defeating Daniil Gorshkov of Embry-Riddle in the championship match with a major decision at 174 pounds.  Remington Winmill finished in third place at 184 with the Packs Jacob Anderson finishing in fourth.    
 
At 197, Dominic Robles took first place, winning by sudden victory, decision and major decision, 14-5 against Ezequiel Borunda of New Mexico Highlands in the final's matchup.      
 
The Pack took first, second and third place at 285 with Ben Gould defeating CSU Pueblo's Jayson Davis 1-0 in the championship match.  Gould used a fall and decision with the Packs Jayson Davis winning by tech fall and fall before the two met in the finals.  Donn Greer finished in third place.

The Pack will finish off the 2022 year on the road as they travel to Mead, Colorado on December 15th to take on Western Wyoming Community College and then to Phoenix, Arizona on December 17th to compete in the Desert Duals.
