Pack Swim Falls to Western Colorado in Dual Meet

GUNNISON, Colo. (December 3, 2022) – The women's swim and dive team of CSU Pueblo returned to competition this Saturday the third when they headed to Gunnison, Colo. to take on Western Colorado University in a dual meet. The Mountaineers emerged victorious over the Pack on the day as they collected 216 points in comparison to the Pack's 62.

A span of 16 events occurred on the day after the 1 pm start and had the Pack competing in 14 of them.

The start for the Pack came in the 200-yard medley relay. The lone team of ThunderWolves consisting of Carla Sanchez Guareno, McKenna Hauber, Nalani Wess and Aleksandra Dutkowiak were able to take fourth place with a time of 1:58.73.

The next event was the 200-yard freestyle and had three members of CSU Pueblo in the standings. Finishing in third place was Aleksandra Dutkowiak at 2:08.61, Kristen Wolf in fifth place at 2:11.54 and Nalani Wess in sixth place at 2:16.26.

In the longest event of the day, the 1650 yard freestyle, both Mckenna Hauber and Markina Evdokimoff swam with Hauber taking second place at 19:33.73 and Evdokimoff in fourth place at 21:46.55.

In the 100-yard backstroke, a duo of ThunderWolves placed with Carla Sanchez Guareno leading them in second place at 1:03.68 and then Makayla Seal in eighth place at 1:16.61.
Following that event was the 100-yard breaststroke which included Kristen Wolf in fourth place at 1:15.08 and Mckenna Hauber in seventh place at 1:16.82. Markina Evdokimoff also competed as well.

The 200-yard butterfly had only one Pack member compete with Nalani Wess in third place at 2:32.48.

In the 50-yard freestyle, out of the 10 finishers, two of them were ThunderWolves and had Carla Sanchez Guareno in fourth place at 26.96 and Makayla Seal in seventh place at 27.54.

The 10th event of the day was the 100-yard freestyle featured and both Aleksandra Dutkowiak and Makayla Seal placing as Dutkowiak took second place at 58.24 and Seal in fourth place at 1:03.16.

The lone victor of an event on the day was Carla Sanchez Guareno who took first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:19.37.

In the 200-yard breaststroke, only one Pack member swam, and had Kristen Wolf placing second at 2:40.15.

The 500-yard freestyle had Aleksandra Dutkowiak take third place at 5:54.31 and Markina Evdokimoff in fourth place at 6:25.12.

Nalani Wess competed in her lonesome in the 100-yard butterfly event as she took second place in the field of eight with a time of 1:05.29.

Also in her lonesome was McKenna Hauber in the 400-yard IM as she took second place at 5:12.63.

In the final event of the day, the 200-yard freestyle relay, only one team of ThunderWolves competed against five other Mountaineer teams, but to their credit placed second as the members of Carla Sanchez Guareno, Makayla Seal, Kristen Wolf and Aleksandra Dutkowiak came together for a time of 1:46.61.

The women's swim and dive team will find themselves in action one more time this month before they take a break until January. On December 10th the Pack will head just up the road as they take on the Tigers of Colorado College for a dual meet in Colorado Springs. Events are set to start at 1 pm.
