Pack dominate dual against Western Wyoming

MEAD, Colo. (December 16, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo controlled a friendly dual against Western Wyoming, cruising to a 32-9 win led by a pair of falls, a tech fall and five decision wins on Thursday evening at Mead HS.

The ThunderWolves went down 9-0 after the first two matches at 125 lbs and 133 lbs. In the opening match of the dual, Dominick Castro was unable to respond to going down late in the battle and dropped a 5-3 decision.

At 133 lbs., Marquis Kemp took a fall at 4:47 against Cody Phelps of WWC.

The Pack got on the board after the 141-pound bout with Michael Atencio pulling out a thrilling 4-2 victory over Joseph Mecham.

In the 149-pound match, CSU Pueblo's Conor Goucher cruised to a 15-0 tech fall victory (4:20) over Colton Erickson.

The next match featured Cyruss Meeks earning the Pack's first fall victory of the night when he pinned Jayden Luttrell at 3:46.

The Pack added to their lead with another fall victory in the 165-pound match up when Elijah Valdez was victorious over Holden Andrews at 4:49.

During the 174-pound match, Tytus Coombs won by an 8-4 decision and in the next bout at 184 lbs., Jacob Anderson came away with a 10-3 decision win over Darion Johnson.

Dominic Robles continued his strong start to the season and pulled out an 8-2 win over Talmage Carman.

The night was capped off by Ben Gould who defeated Payton Calico in an 8-2 decision.

CSU Pueblo returns to the mats for a pair of duals on Saturday at the Desert Duals in Phoenix, Arizona. The Pack will face off against Minnesota State and will close the day with a match against Simon Fraser.
