Trey Botts and redshirt-sophomore
Andrew Cook were named National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter Defensive Player and Special Teams Player of the Year, announced Thursday. Four others listed on the first and second teams.
Botts also was selected to the NFFCC First Team and finished his senior year with 66 tackles, 22 of which were solo stops. He added 16 tackles for a loss of 56 yards while posting 5.5 sacks for a loss of 34 yards. The 2022 RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, Botts was named an AFCA All-America First Team selection.
A 2022 All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Second Team selection for offense, Cook was named to the NFFCC Special Teams First Team and earned Second Team Offense accolades after he played in 12 games for the ThunderWolves that boasted an 8-4 record this season. Cook ranks third in NCAA Division II with 17.4 yards per punt return. He returned 18 punts this season for 313 yards, the highest punt return average in the RMAC. After 114 punt returns on four punts against Fort Lewis College earlier this season, Cook was named the NFFCC Player of the Week on Oct. 1.
Another NFFCC First Team selection and D2CCA AP All-American,
Daniel Bone finished the year with 68 tackles including 39 solo takedowns in twelve games played. Bone tallied six interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He added three tackles for loss for 12 yards.
Bone recorded eight tackles in a game three times this year and had a season-high six solo tackles in the Pack's home opener on Sept. 10 against No. 5 Grand Valley State.
He earned two interceptions on Nov. 5 against South Dakota Mines.
Eli Pittman lands on the First Team on Defense after playing in all twelve games and getting 46 tackles and 28 solo tackles for the ThunderWolves. Pittman recorded eight pass breakups, two interceptions and one TFL good for 4 yards.
Earning Second Team honors,
Max Fine finished a strong senior season campaign and led the ThunderWolves with 911 receiving yards on 54 catches. He averaged 16.87 yards per catch and scored six touchdowns and had a season-high 68 yard reception.
Momar Fall rounds out the teams as he totaled 56 tackles including 21 solo takedowns in twelve games. Fall tallied 9.5 TFL for 41 yards, 6.5 sacks for a loss of 33 yards and had three QB hurries, one pass break up and earned his first career interception during the last game of the season.
