COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (December 10, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's indoor track & field finished up their weekend in Colorado Springs with a good showing for their last meet before the break in action when they return in January at University of New Mexico.
The women's team capped off the weekend with multiple event wins. Leading that off in the shot put was
Katherine Higgins led the women shot putters with a throw of 14.12m which is a provisional mark, and she is sitting in ninth place on the TFFRS list.
Febe Wessels finished in second place with a throw of 13.78m. In fourth place was
Heather Graham throwing 12.92m. Rounding off the women's shot putters was
Olivia Mikaelian in seventh place (12.61m).
Staying in the field events,
Mikayla Jones finished in second place in the triple jump and high jump. She jumped 11.26m in the triple jump and then 1.65m in the high jump. In the high jump Jones was 1cm off her school record.
Claire Pauley also accounted for another one of the event wins on the weekend, which was in the 5,000m. She raced to the winning time of 18:10.51.
To cap of the women's weekend their 4x400m relay team finished in second place with a time of 4:01.55, with
Case,
Harris,
Holland,
Braybrook.
Terrel Johnson had a great first showing in the men's heptathlon scoring 4785 points, this is a provisional qualifying mark and is sitting in sixteenth place on the TFFRS.
In the men's shot put we saw the ThunderWolves take the top four places.
Nathaniel Miller (17.88m),
Justin Jenks (17.27m),
Xavier Freeman (13.92m),
Lucas Moran (13.27m).
Kaleb Beloy led the men for the ThunderWolves in the mile run with a time of 4:19.96.
Daniel Beam came in third running 4:26.43. Then closely behind was
Richie Roberds with 4:28.43.
The men's 4x400m consisting of
Schmidt,
Sherman-Newell, Tipton, and
Smith ran a time of 3:17.54 to win the event and they are sitting in fourth on the TFFRS list.
The teams are done for 2022 and will pick back up with meets in 2023 at University of New Mexico on January 21 for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invite and then on January 27-28, they will be at UNM for the team open.
