PUEBLO, Colo. (Jan. 30) – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's tennis team looked to knock some dust off as the team hosted the University of New Mexico on Sunday afternoon where the ThunderWolves fell to the Lobos 5-0.
The Lobos won all three matches in doubles where the ThunderWolves were able to steal two games out of the three matches.
Kali Hamilton (Sr., Grapevine, Texas) and
Tilly Blasdale (R-So., Dover, United Kingdom) stole two games from UNM's Yue Lin Chen and My Kageyama but ultimately lost 6-2.
Roma Cordova (r-So., Belen, N.M.) and
Alyssa Wells (R-So., Converse, Texas) lost to Hsiang-Wen Huang and Hsuan Huang while
Marissa Sena (R-So., Las Vegas, N.M.) and
Malaya Pendon (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) lost to Sarah O'Connor and Maria Sodre, both 6-0.
In singles, Hamilton showed some life at the No. 1 spot as the senior used her lethal serve and was able to steal two sets from UNM's Chen but lost 6-2, 6-1. Sena at the teams No.2 lost to O'Connor, Blasdale lost to Kegayama at No. 3 and Cordova fell to Huang, all games 6-0, 6-0.
The ThunderWolves have a long wait till their next match as the team will travel to Minnesota State on March 7th.
