ThunderWolves Back in Action at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invite

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Jan. 22) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's track & field teams competed for the first time in over a month in a field stacked with Division I teams in the Dr. Mart Luther King Jr. Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico.
 
The men's team was led by Nate Miller (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Justin Jenks (Jr., Helena, Mont.) who placed 2nd and 4th, respectively, in the shot put while Jenks finished 7th in the weighted throw with a mark of 17.53 meters. Millers throw of 19.36 meters tabs him 3rd in program history while Jenks mark of 18.51 meters is just shy of cracking the top 10.
 
Freshman Jack Dickson (Fr.) finished 4th in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:53.54 while Kaleb Tipton (Jr., Lawton, Okla.) finished just seconds behind in 9th place with a time of 1:56.25.
 
Nikolaus Franzmair (Fr.) ran a 4:17.52 in the mile to finish in 8th place while Cole Munoz (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished with a time of 4:33.77 and Nathan Hood (Gr., St. Davids, Grenada) finished with a time of 4:48.98.
 
Ritchie Roberds (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished 11th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:06.72 and Kaleb Beloy (So., Anchorage, Alaska) finished 13th with a time of 9:08.33.
 
Tyrell Smith (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), Dickson, Tipton, and Franzmair rounded out the men's side with a 4th place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:23.21 while Smith finished 10th in the 400-meter dash in 50.14 seconds.
 
The women's team also had strong performances with Hailey Streff (Gr., Madison, S.D.) and Jenna McKinley (Gr., Mosca, Colo.) snagging 2nd place finishes.
 
McKinley wasted no time coming back from an injury after throwing for a mark of 14.60 meters while Katherine Higgins (So., Castle Rock, Colo.) finished 3rd with a mark of 14.50 meters.
 
Streff crossed the line in 1:33.53 in the 600-meter run just ahead of teammate Yasmine Hernandez (Gr., Johnstown, Colo.) who finished with a time of 1:33.76 and a 3rd place finish. Taylor Holland (So., Alamosa, Colo.) finished 11th with a time of 1:39.78.
 
Claire Pauley (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) finished 5th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:14.01, Olivia Mikaelian (So., Albuquerque, N.M.) tabbed a 6th place finish in the weighted throw with a mark of 16.97 meters and Mikayla Jones (So., Aurora, Colo.) finished 6th in the high jump at 1.62 meters.
 
The Pack will be back in action next weekend back in Albuquerque, N.M. for the UNM Team Open.
