ThunderWolves run away with pair of first place team finishes

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 11, 2021) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's and women's cross country teams ran away with team titles Saturday, at the Ted Castaneda Cross Country Classic after seven Pack runners combined to finish in the Top Five in their respective races.

Women's Recap
The ThunderWolves all placed within the Top 20 of the women's 6K race and ended with 25 team points, guided by top place finisher Claire Pauley (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) with a clocked a time of 22:22.6. Close behind Pauley was Hailey Streff (Sr., Madison, S.D.) with a registered time of 22:22.8.

Yasmine Hernandez (Sr., Johnstown, Colo.) ended in third place and finished with a time of 22:30.1.

Placing in 6th place, Margot Thomas-Gatel (Chapet, Ile-de-France, France) entering a time of 22:45.7, while Ella Harris (Fr., Star, Idaho) finished at 24:05.3, good for 13th place and Delaney Gilfillan (Fr. placed 16th with a time of 24:18.9.

Rounding out the field was Helen Braybrook (Fr.) in 18th place and a time of 24:23.5.

Men's Recap
The Pack placed four runners in the Top 5 and all seven that competed placed in the Top 15 overall in the men's 8K race. As a team, the Pack registered 21 team points, well ahead of second place finisher New Mexico Highlands with 48 points.

The ThunderWolves were paced by Cole Munoz (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) who finished in second place with a time of 25:58.0.

Finishing in 3rd through 5th place were Pack runners Matthew Roberds (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) (26:04.5), Richie Roberds (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) (26:08.9) and Patrick Scoggins (Jr., Rangely, Colo.) (26:12.8).

Brandon Parrado (Jr.) finished in 7th place with a time of 26:19.1.

In 10th place, Luke Futey (So., Rio Rancho, N.M.) entered a time of 26:44.1 and in 14th place, Lucas Westbrook (So., Loveland, Colo.) ended his race at 27:00.7.

CSU Pueblo will turn its attention to the Roadrunners Invitational set for Sept. 17 in Denver and hosted by MSU Denver.
