PUEBLO, Colo. (May 1, 2021) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's lacrosse team closed the 2021 regular season with an 8-6 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win against Adams State University Saturday at the Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
The ThunderWolves (3-4, 2-2 RMAC) totaled 47 shots and put 25 on goal, while limiting the Grizzlies (0-8, 0-6 RMAC) to 28 total shots and 15 on frame. The Pack dominated faceoffs and won the category by a 15-3 margin. CSU Pueblo had 27 ground balls, while ASU totaled 24.

Brance Anderson (D, Bulverde, Texas),
Michael DeMaio (D, Gambrills, Md.) and
Tavian Watson (LSM, Aurora, Colo.).

PLAYER PERFORMANCES
Freshman
Logan Naves (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) totaled three points with two goals and an assist.
Turner Dirk (Fr., M, Strathmore, Alberta, Canada) also netted three points with a goal and two assists.
Freshman
Connor Owen (M, Keller, Texas) potted two goals.
DeMaio totaled a team-high eight ground balls and caused two turnovers. He also scored his second goal of the season.
Watson caused four turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
Ethan Ferrie (So., Littleton, Colo.) totaled nine saves in the win and added four ground balls.
Freshman
Tyler Gardner (M, Erie, Colo.) went 15-for-18 at the faceoff.
SUMMARY
After not playing since April 11, the ThunderWolves started a bit slow and trailed 1-0 after the first quarter.
Dirk got the Pack on the board in the first 21 seconds of the second frame, then
Logan Wells (Fr., A, Centennial, Colo.) scored on an assist from Naves to put the home team ahead 2-1.
ASU tied the game 2-2, then the ThunderWolves went back up on an Owen goal with 6:09 left in the second. The Grizzlies scored with 4:06 to play and the game went into the locker room tied 3-3.
The first two goals of the third quarter were by the Pack, as Naves scored twice and was assisted on both occasions by Dirk.
ASU would get one back before the end of the 15 minutes and the ThunderWolves headed to the fourth with a 5-4 lead.
The Pack created some separation with goals in the first six minutes of the final frame. DeMaio netted his goal with 11:55 left, then
Boston Dumas (Jr., M, Ogden, Utah) gave the home team a little breathing room with a goal with 9:26 showing on the game clock.
An Adams State tally made it 7-5, but Owen pushed the lead back to three just a minute and a half later.
ASU scored in the final minute on a man-up goal to get within two, but it wouldn't be enough, as the ThunderWolves celebrated the 8-6 victory.

An official announcement for the RMAC Tournament will be released by the league office in the coming days. The Pack are currently third in the league standings.
