Ni dominates day one of Las Vegas Desert Classic

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 7, 2021) – The No. 11/12 ranked Colorado State University men's golf team wrapped up day one of the Las Vegas Desert Classic in fifth place. Andrew Ni (Jr., Edinburgh, Scotland, UK) shares the lead after 36 holes at the Royal Links Golf Course.
 
The ThunderWolves finished the day -5 (571). The Pack shot an even par (288) in round one and a -5 (283) in round two. They will enter day two four strokes out of fourth place.
 
Ni matched a school record in round two, shooting seven strokes under par with a -7 (65). He carded a -5 (67) in round one. His -12 (132) put him and University of Indianapolis' Erik Edwards four strokes ahead of the rest of the field.
 
Jamie Roberts (R-Fr., Kinross, Scotland) stands in 21st place after 36 holes. Roberts posted a +1 (73) in round one. He recorded a -1 (71) to finish day one with an even par (144).
 
Sam Barthram (Jr., Weybridge, Surrey, England, UK) and Clay Kucera (Jr., Chaska, Minn.) share 40th place with a +4 (148). Barthram shot a +3 (75) in round one and followed it up with a +1 (73). Kucera posted his +1 (73) in round one and carded a +3 (75) in round two.
 
Nathan McCann (Jr., Lurgan Armagh, Ireland) trails Barthram and Kucera by one stroke. McCann matched Barthram with a +3 (75) in round one, before following it up with a +2 (74) in round two. He sits in 47th place at +5 (149).
