ThunderWolves compete after 4-month layoff

GUNNISON, Colo. (February 6, 2021) – Competing for the first time in four months, Colorado State University Pueblo Swimming & Diving scored 87 team points but fell to Western Colorado University 168-87 Saturday.
 
The Pack now stands 1-2 on the season with a 1-2 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference competition. Both of the Pack's losses have come against the Mountaineers.
 
Melissa Braddock (So., Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, UK) earned the Pack's first win of the day in the 1650 Free. Braddock swam a career-best time 19:46.51.
 
Braddock shaved seven seconds off of her previous personal record. She also beat her closest competition by 46 seconds. Braddock placed second in the 200 Fly (2:35.67). She took fourth in the 400 IM with a mark of 5:24.52.
 
Katy Zimmerman (Fr., Cypress, Texas) won the 200 Free with a time of 2:01.74. Zimmerman out-touched the field by almost 2.5 seconds. She now has four wins this season.
 
Mckenna Hauber (So., Gillette, Wyo.)  took second in the 200 Free (2:04.11). Alyssa Grunloh (Jr., Round Rock, Texas)  posted a fifth place time of 2:10.30 to make the 200 Free the Pack's highest scoring event of the dual.
 
Zimmerman returned to place second in the 500 Free (5:25.40). She also recorded a third place showing in the 200 Back with a time of 2:19.93.
 
Hauber claimed third in the 500 Free (5:48.51). She also secured third in the 400 IM (5:10.84).
 
Jillian Abrian (So., Ladera Ranch, Colo.) collected second place in the 100 Back (1:06.61). Abrian dove her way to third on the 1M board with a score of 100.55. This score was the best of Abrian's career. Abrian placed fourth in the 200 Back (2:26.86).
 
Kate Miller (Sr., Draper, Utah) scored four points for the pack with a runner up finish in the 200 Breast (2:59.28). Shion Ienaga (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) placed third in the 200 Breast (3:05.74). Miller also earned the Pack's best finish in the 100 Breast, taking fourth with a mark of 1:17.13.
 
Alyssa Basaldua (Fr., Katy, Texas) notched a third place finish in the 200 Fly (2:41.24). Basaldua earned the Pack's top finish in the 100 Fly (1:05.89), securing third place. She also led the Pack with a fourth place finish in the 100 Free (1:01.40).
 
Julia Whitfield (Jr., Wichita, Kan.) touched the wall in third place in the 50 Free (26.89). Whitfield anchored the Pack's 200 Free Relay team of Basaldua, Miller, Hauber to a third place finish (1:50.24).
 
Up Next:
The Pack will travel to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships. The RMAC Championships will be held Feb. 17-20 in Grand Junction, Colo.
