ThunderWolves come up short against Adams State 78-64

PUEBLO, Colo. (Dec. 7, 2021) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's basketball team dropped a conference game to Adams State 78-64 on Tuesday evening at Massari Arena.

The ThunderWolves and the Grizzlies battled on the first half as neither team held onto a comfortable lead. The ThunderWolves managed a 12-0 run within a 4-minute stretch after being down 7 points to take a 24-19 lead with 6 minutes remaining in the first half.

The Grizzlies offense warmed up in the last 6 minutes of the half as ASU went into halftime with a 37-34 lead. Both teams shot 50% from the field in the half while the Grizzlies knocked down 5 3-pointers to the ThunderWolves 1.

Lian Ramiro (Fr., Aurora) started the second half hot, knocking down two corner 3-pointers that gave the Pack a 2-point lead with 15 minutes to play. The ThunderWolves lost a rhythm on offense as the Grizzlies turned a 12-2 run into a 56-46 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining.

Tristan Hurdle (Fr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) came up with a steal and a layup that helped the Pack make a final run at the Grizzlies lead. The ThunderWolves connected on 4 of their 5 next field goals to cut the lead down to as little as 3 points with 7 minutes to play, but an 8-2 run from the Grizzlies put the game out of reach for the Pack, as ASU walked away with a 78-64 win.

The Pack ended the night shooting 24 of 53 from the field which included 3 of 20 from deep while the Grizzles finished 29 of 56 with 7 of those coming from beyond the arc. The difference in the game came from the ASU bench as the Grizzlies outscored the ThunderWolves 16-5.

The ThunderWolves had four players score in double digits as Ramiro finished with 17 points, Meekness Payne (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) and Elijah Moleon (Jr., Killeen, Texas) each added 13 points and Malcom Little (So., San Diego, Calif.) finished with 10.

The ThunderWolves will have nine days off before heading west to take on Westminster next Thursday and Colorado Mesa next Saturday.
