Bynum named RMAC Co-Freshman of the Year and First Team All-RMAC; leads seven selections

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (November 3, 2021) - Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer freshman defender Lamar Bynum (Albuquerque, NM) was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Co-Freshman of the Year and earned First Team All-RMAC accolades, headlining five total members of the Pack being named to the all-conference teams.

Bynum, along with Nick Burgess (Sr., Melbourne, Fla.) and Vinzent Zingel (So., Aachen, Germany) each were selected to First Team All-RMAC. Jan Gruhn (Grad., Schleiden, Germany) and Josua Hall (So., Baiersbronn, Germany) both landed on the Second Team All-RMAC.

Carlos Sanchis (Grad., Madrid, Spain) and Garret Wild (Jr., Brownsville, Tex.) were chosen Honorable Mention.

UCCS' Alex Andersson was named RMAC Player of the Year and Fort Lewis' Tomas Duenes shared Co-Freshman of the Year honors with Bynum.

Colorado Mesa's Ethan Anderson (Defensive) and Connor Durant (Goalkeeper) round out the major awards. Colorado School of Mines' Greg Mulholland was named RMAC Coach of the Year.

The Pack's back line were well represented with Bynum, Burgess and Gruhn helping to hold the opponents to a 0.073 shot percentage and have allowed ten goals in 18 games this season. The ThunderWolves defense ranks fourth in all of Division II.

The trio combined for five goals on the year.

Zingel leads the team in all offensive categories and has seven goals, three assists and 17 total points. He has one game-winning goal and has gone a perfect 2-for-2 in penalty kick tries.

Hall was responsible for creating havoc at midfield and scored five goals and added one assist for the Pack.

Rounding out the field, Sanchis had a strong season for CSU Pueblo, earning ten points on four goals and two assists.

At goalkeeper, Wild registered over 1490 minutes and has allowed nine goals and has earned a 0.54 goal-against average. He has made 45 saves and recorded a .833 save percentage. Wild has earned eight clean sheets this season in 17 games played.

CSU Pueblo (12-4-2) has earned the fourth seed in the RMAC Tournament and will host No. 5 seed MSU Denver Thursday at 6 p.m. in a Quarterfinal Match at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
