Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pack conclude Thanksgiving Classic with 84-76 win over Kansas Christian

PUEBLO, Colo. (Nov. 27, 2021) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's basketball team rebounded from yesterdays defeat in strong fashion, taking down Kansas Christian 84-76 on Saturday evening to conclude the 2021 Thanksgiving Classic held at Massari Arena.

The first half was about as even as it could get as the ThunderWolves biggest lead of the half came at 19-12 as Isaiah Thompson (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) cleaned up a Tristan Hurdle (Fr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) miss with an easy put-back layup with 11 minutes to go in the half.

The lead didn't last long as the Falcons were able to use an 8-2 run to close the half and cut the deficit down to as little as 1-point, 35-34 going into the break. The ThunderWolves shot 51.6% on the half after going 16-31 from the field while holding the Falcons to 11 of 33 shooting in the first half.

The Pack opened the second half with a strong 13-5 run and were able to extend their lead to as much as 12 points with 7-minutes remaining in the game. Hard nose defense and a better offensive performance for the Pack as Hurdle connected on three 3-pointers in the second half to help the ThunderWolves cruise to an 84-76 win over Kansas Christian.

Elijah Moleon (Jr., Killeen, Tex.) registered his second double-double of the weekend leading the Pack with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Thompson and Meekness Payne (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) also nabbed 14 points each. Hurdle and Micah Lamberth (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) closed out the scoring efforts for the Pack registering 11 points apiece.

Although the Falcons bench outscored the ThunderWolves bench 39-28, the Pack were able to take control of the glass, out-rebounding KCC 46-33 which included 12 offensive boards.

The ThunderWolves look ahead to begin conference play next week as the teams are set to host UCCS on Friday night and New Mexico Highlands on Saturday evening. Both games are scheduled for a 7 pm tipoff.
