GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (November 13, 2021) - The No. 24 ranked Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team fell 3-1 against No. 11 Colorado Mesa University in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship at the Mavericks' Unity Field.

Carlos Espinoza (Sr., Simi Valley, Calif.) and
Vinzent Zingel (So., Aachen, Germany) were named to the RMAC All-Tournament Team.
CSU Pueblo will now wait and see if they earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament when the selection show airs Monday at 4:30 p.m. The Pack entered the week as the No. 8 team in Super Region Four.
"Congratulations to Mesa for the win. Their big players stood up today," said Pack Head Coach
Oliver Twelvetrees. "We started very well but were not able to maintain our level of performance. We will learn from this experience and be better moving forward."
Bynum netted the lone goal for the ThunderWolves during the fifth minute, receiving a corner kicked ball from Zingel and allowed Bynum to finish, placing the ball low and to the right into the net for the early 1-0 lead.
In the first half CSU Pueblo earned nine shots and finished with 15 total shots in the match. The Pack had five shots land on goal.
The Pack maintained their lead throughout most of the first half and faced 13 shots from the Mavericks. The home team scored the equalizer in the 38th minute after getting past the ThunderWolves defense.
Fernando Herrera (So., Quertaro, Mexico) led the team with four shots after coming on midway through the first period.
Espinoza and
Nazar Deputat (Sr., Ocala, Fla.) both recorded three shots.
In the second half, the Mavericks came out firing and took their first lead 2-1, just over a minute into the second half.
The ThunderWolves offense continued to pressure the Mavericks defense and created a couple of good looks at the net.
CMU added to the score during the 74th minute and built a 3-1 lead.

Garret Wild (Brownsville, Tex.) made five saves at the net.
Over the last fifteen minutes, the ThunderWolves kept the ball mostly on the Mavericks side of the field and was unable to overcome the stout defense put forth in the match.
