PUEBLO, Colo. (October 5, 2021) – The Colorado State Pueblo men's golf team capped off their final day of the 2021 Farmers Insurance Sam Proal NCAA West/South Central Regional Preview held at the Pueblo Country Club.
The ThunderWolves finished the tournament in fifth place with a total score of 564 (-4) after shooting a 287 on the final day of play. There was a total of 19 teams in the tournament where the top three finishers were Oklahoma Christian (-17), Midwestern State (-9), and Colorado Mesa (-8).
After shooting a 68 (-3) in round one,
Jamie Roberts (So., Kinross, Scotland, UK) finished ahead of the Pack with a second round score of 71 (E) and tied for 11
th at -3 on the tournament.
Coming in right behind Roberts was
Andrew Ni (Sr., Edinburgh, Scotland, UK) who finished his second round with a score of 73 to finish with a score of 140 (-2) and tied for 15
th on the tournament. Freshman
Jeffrey Nelson (Commerce City, Colo.) was two holes shy of finishing under par for the second round and the tournament, but two bogies and double bogie on his final three holes of his second round saw him finish at 74 (+3) and a final score of 143 (+1).
One stroke behind Nelson was
Matt Millar (So., Devon, England, UK) who finished with a final score of 144 (+2) on the tournament. Millar carded a 70 on his second round, which included five birdies, one bogie, and one triple-bogie. A card without the triple-bogie lands him a top 20 finish on the tournament.
To finish off the round for the Pack was
Liam Duncan (Jr., Kirkcaldy, Scotland, UK) who finished with a final score of 146 (+4),
Sanjay Nithiyalingam (Jr., Cambridge, England, UK) who finished at 150 (+8),
Tyler Tyson (Fr., Arvada, Colo.) who finished with a score of 155 (+13), and
Clay Kucera (Sr., Chaska, Minn.) who finished with a final score of 162 (+20).
The Pack will be bac kin action next week on October 10
th and 11
th as participate in the NCAA Championship Preview in Dearborn, Mich.
