Dr. Bridgmon Becomes Pack’s new Faculty Athletics Representative

PUEBLO, Colo. (August 4, 2020) – Colorado State University Pueblo has announced that Dr. Krista Bridgmon will serve as the new ThunderWolves Faculty Athletic Representative.
 
"It is an honor to serve as the university's new Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR)," Bridgmon said.
 
"Dr. Bridgmon will play an instrumental leadership role as our Faculty Athletics Representative," said CSU Pueblo Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Paul Plinske. "Her education, professional background and experiences suit her very well in serving our President, faculty, coaches, staff and student-athletes.
 
In her role of Faculty Athletic Representative, Dr. Bridgmon will advise University President Dr. Timothy Mottet on issues related to student-athlete support and success. She will serve as a liaison between student-athletes and faculty.
 
Dr. Bridgmon will represent CSU Pueblo at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference level and at the annual meeting of the NCAA, and will be an active member of the athletics compliance team.
 
"For me, this is a dream alliance between my former role as a college student-athlete and my current role as a professor and department chair," Bridgmon said. "I had the privilege of playing women's soccer for four years at Northern Arizona University."
 
Dr. Bridgmon had a successful career on the pitch for the Lumberjacks. She set a then NCAA D-I record for consecutive minutes played. Dr. Bridgmon logged 6,670:32 consecutive minutes played (73 games).
 
In 2000, Bridgmon earned Big Sky Conference Player of the Year honors. Bridgmon was also a member of the Big Sky All-Academic team.  She also led the Lumberjacks as team captain.
 
"It is great to have an advocate that has walked in the shoes of a student-athlete," Plinske said.
 
Dr. Bridgmon currently serves as the chair for the Psychology Department at CSU Pueblo. She also has served on the University's Faculty Senate and several hiring committees.
 
Additionally, Dr. Bridgmon is a licensed psychologist. In 2019, she earned the Rocky Mountain Psychology Association's Mentor of the Year award.
 
"Now, entering my thirteenth year as a Psychology Professor at CSU-Pueblo, I will embrace the opportunity to be a liaison ensuring an exciting and successful experience for our ThunderWolves,"Bridgmon said.
 
Dr. Bridgmon is also an avid runner. She has completed the New York City Marathon and the Chicago Marathon three times each.
 
"As an esteemed faculty member, Dr. Bridgmon will help us continue to build our partnership with University faculty and staff as we represent CSU Pueblo in and out of the classroom," Plinske said. "We are very excited to work with Dr. Bridgmon and welcome her to the Pack family."

As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Colorado State University – Pueblo competes in 22 varsity sports in NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics.
