(Feb. 19, 2020) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball team embarks on its final Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference road trip Feb. 21-22 at Chadron State College and Metropolitan State University of Denver. Friday's game with the Eagles is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start, while Saturday's contest against the Roadrunners is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

VERSUS THE OPPONENTS

• The ThunderWolves hosted MSU Denver and Chadron State Jan. 17-18, respectfully, and fell to the Roadrunners, 65-61, before defeating the Eagles, 85-71. CSU-Pueblo had its second-worst shooting night of the season against MSU Denver at 36.2 percent and then followed it up with its best shooting game of the season against CSC at 57.1 percent.Â

• The ThunderWolves have won five of the last seven against the Eagles. Last season they lost in Chadron, 71-62. The Pack have lost four straight to the Roadrunners and are 1-9 in their last 10 meetings on the road.

RMAC STANDINGS

• With just three regular season games remaining, CSU-Pueblo is currently in a tie for 9th with a 9-10 conference record. The ThunderWolves are a game out of eighth and two games out of a tie for sixth, as the top eight teams advance to the conference tournament. Chadron State sits in last with a 2-17 league record. MSU Denver is 13th at 6-13.Â
LAST WEEKEND

• The ThunderWolves (11-14, 9-10 RMAC) went 1-1 at home against a pair of teams that came into the weekend ranked in the top four of the RMAC. The Pack defeated University of Colorado Colorado Springs Friday in a commanding way, 74-58, but fell to Colorado School of Mines on Saturday, 84-65.

• The ThunderWolves used a 21-0 run from the final two minutes of the first half through the first four minutes of the second half to open a 20-point lead that would guide the Pack to a victory against UCCS. CSU-Pueblo shot 53.6 percent from the field in the second half against the second best field goal percentage defense in the conference and finished the game hitting on 47.4 percent from the field. The Mountain Lions (15-8, 11-7 RMAC) posted a field goal percentage of 39.6 percent. The ThunderWolves forced 21 UCCS turnovers, which translated into 24 points off takeaways. Brandon McGhee (G, Oakland, Calif.) and juniorÂ
Bryce Sanchious (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). McGhee finished with 21 points (17 in the first half) on 8-of-11 (72.7%) shooting from the field. He added four rebounds and three assists. Sanchious scored 18 points, brought down a team-high five rebounds, collected three steals and added two blocks. GuardÂ
David Simental (R-So., Pueblo West, Colo.) totaled 15 points, all in the second half, and had three assists.

• The Orediggers (18-8, 14-5 RMAC) led the majority of the game and used a hot-shooting first half to gain a large lead. The ThunderWolves (11-14, 9-10 RMAC) shot 37.8 percent from the field, while Mines finished at 46.4 percent after shooting 63 percent in the first half. Tyson Gilbert (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the team with 20 points and hit four 3-pointers. He also added five rebounds. McGhee chipped in 16 points with four steals, three assists and two boards.Â

David Simental was named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week Dec. 9 after the first weekend of RMAC play. He averaged 30 points per game, shot 56.1 percent from the field (23-of-41) and 50 percent from long range, as he went 8-for-16. He was 6-for-8 (75%) from the free throw line. The 42 points in an overtime loss at Fort Lewis is the fifth most in program history, the most by an RMAC player this season and is T-24th in NCAA Division II in 2019-20.

David Simental leads the team with 15.9 points per game to rank 11th in the RMAC. His 17.2 points per conference game is 7th. He is 92-for-104 from the free throw line for an 88.5 percentage that ranks 2nd in the RMAC and T-20th in NCAA Division II. His 33.7 minutes per game ranks 3rd in the league.Â

Brandon McGhee adds 11.4 points per game and is shooting 51.6 percent from the field (12th in the RMAC). He leads the team with 3.9 assists per game that is 6th in the RMAC. He adds 3.9 rebounds per contest. His 1.6 assist/turnover ratio is T-9th in the conference. McGhee's 26 steals is a team-high.

Bryce Sanchious owns 11.0 points per game and has pulled down 5.5 rebounds per contest to tie for first on the team. The junior leads the Pack with 23 blocks, as his 0.9 blocks per game average ranks T-7th in the RMAC. He recorded back-to-back double-doubles the first RMAC weekend at Adams State (10 points, 13 rebounds) and Fort Lewis (17 points, 10 rebounds).Â

Tyson Gilbert has started 11 games and leads the team with 47 3-pointers with a 44.8 percentage from long range. He is averaging 10.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He knocked down six 3-pointers Dec. 18 in a road loss to New Mexico Highlands.

Jason Anderson owns 8.8 points and is tied for the team-high with 5.5 rebounds per game. He has a 62.1 percentage from the field this season. Anderson has two double-doubles on the year.Â
