GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. (February 15, 2020) – On the last day of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, Colorado State University-Pueblo Swimming & Diving shattered two school records.
Selina Wang (Fr., Taipei, Taiwan) broke the Pack's 100 Free record twice Saturday. Wang swam a prelim time of 52.80, .48seconds faster than the previous school record. In the finals, Wang bettered her time to 52.53, the new Pack record. Wang picked up fifth place.
In the meet's last event, the 400 Free Relay, the ThunderWolves smashed their school record with a time of 3:32.79. Wang anchored the Pack's relay team along with
Phoebe Pontious (Sr., Caledonia, Mich.),
Julia Whitfield (So., Wichita, Kan.), and
Mckenna Hauber (Fr., Gillette, Wyo.).
This quartet shaved almost three seconds off the previous school record of 3:35.75 set earlier this season. Wang, Pontious, Whitfield, and Hauber were rewarded with fifth place for their record-setting effort.
Pontious also scored points for the Pack in the 100 Free. She took 15th place with a time of 53.73. In the prelims, Pontious swam what is now the fourth fastest time in program history with a mark of 53.32.
Hauber placed eighth in the 1650 Free to score 11 points for the Pack. She recorded a time of 18:09.55.
In the 200 Breast,
Kristin Wolf (Fr., Topeka, Kan.) placed 21st. Wolf finished with a time of 2:31.61.
Jillian Abrian (Fr., Ladera Ranch, Calif.) landed 24th place in the 200 Back. Abrian posted a time of 2:19.29.
After four days of competition, the Pack finished seventh in the nine-team field. The ThunderWolves totaled 241 points.
