PUEBLO, Colo. (Jan. 23, 2020) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's basketball remains at home to host Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games Jan. 24-25 against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and Black Hills State University. Both games are slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday is Military Appreciation Night.
MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT
All current, reserve and retired military members earn a FREE (with ID) general admission ticket, plus they will earn an additional four general admission tickets for immediate family members. Tickets can be picked up at the Massari Arena Box Office on Friday starting at 9 a.m. all the way up to tipoff.
THE PACK
• The ThunderWolves (8-9, 6-5 RMAC) split a home weekend against Metro State University of Denver (L, 65-61) and Chadron State College (W, 85-71) last weekend.
• Against the Roadrunners, the ThunderWolves trailed by 15 at halftime, but flipped the script in the second half to give themselves a chance. The Pack held MSU Denver to 22 second half points, but the halftime hole ended up to be too large to dig out of.
Brandon McGhee shot 58.3 percent from the field and went 4-of-5 (80%) from the line to reach 18 points. He also added nine rebounds and a team-high four assists.
Jason Anderson was the only other Pack player in double figures. He recorded his second double-double this season with 11 points and a season-high 11 rebounds.
• The Pack used a team effort to post an 85-71 victory against the Eagles in front of 2,377 fans at Massari Arena. The ThunderWolves shot 57.1 percent from the field, which was guided by 62.1 percent in the second half. The Pack won the rebounding battle 43-31 and totaled seven blocks. Anderson went 10-for-11 (90.9%) from the field and 4-for-6 from the line to reach 24 points. He also added nine rebounds with two steals and a block. McGhee posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and flirted with a triple-double with seven assists.
Jaedon Bowles added 11 points and five rebounds, while
Tyson Gilbert came off the bench and contributed 10 points and seven rebounds with three assists.

David Simental was named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week Dec. 9 after the first weekend of RMAC play. He averaged 30 points per game, shot 56.1 percent from the field (23-of-41) and 50 percent from long range, as he went 8-for-16. He was 6-for-8 (75%) from the free throw line. The 42 points in an overtime loss at Fort Lewis is the fifth most in program history, the most by an RMAC player this season and T-14th most in NCAA Division II in 2019-20.
• Seven different players are scoring at least 8.1 points per game and four different players have 4.1 or more rebounds per contest.
• Redshirt-sophomore guard
David Simental leads the team with 16.0 points per game to rank 9th in the RMAC. His 18.2 points per conference game is 5th. He is the only player to have started each of the 17 contests. He is 73-for-82 from the free throw line for an 89.0 percentage that ranks 2nd in the RMAC. His 33.2 minutes per game ranks 6th in the league.
• Senior guard
Brandon McGhee adds 13.2 points per game and is shooting 53.5 percent from the field to rank 6th in the RMAC. He leads the team with 4.4 assists per game that is 4th in the RMAC. He adds 4.7 rebounds per contest. His 1.7 assist/turnover ratio is T-7th in the conference. McGhee's 18 steals is a team-high.
• Sophomore guard
Tyson Gilbert has started seven games and leads the team with 33 3-pointers with a 47.9 percentage from long range. He is averaging 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He knocked down six 3-pointers Dec. 18 in a road loss to New Mexico Highlands.
• Junior forward
Bryce Sanchious owns 9.8 points per game and has pulled down 5.2 rebounds per contest to sit second on the team. The junior also leads the team with 15 blocks, as his 0.9 blocks per game average ranks T-6th in the RMAC. He recorded back-to-back double-doubles the first RMAC weekend at Adams State (10 points, 13 rebounds) and Fort Lewis (17 points, 10 rebounds).
• Freshman forward
Jaedon Bowles has produced 9.8 points per game with nine contests coming off the bench. He is second on the squad with 30 3-pointers.
• Senior center
Jason Anderson owns 9.1 points and a team-high 5.9 rebounds per game. He has a 62.1 percentage from the field this season. Anderson has two double-doubles on the year.
• Senior forward
Donovan Oldham adds 8.1 points and 4.6 rebounds with 27 3-pointers.
• The Pack average 78.1 points per game to rank 5th in the RMAC and allow 78.7 points per contest for 12th in the conference.
• The team is shooting 47.6 percent from the field to rank 5th in the RMAC.
• CSU-Pueblo ranks 4th in the league in blocks with 3.7 swats per game.
THE HARDROCKERS
• The Hardrockers are 9-8 overall and 6-5 in RMAC play and are riding a three-game win streak into Massari Arena. South Dakota Mines is 2-6 on the road and 3-7 away from its home gym. The Hardrockers recorded a huge home weekend sweep Jan. 17-18, as they used staunch defense to pick up wins against Colorado School of Mines (84-69) and UCCS (71-49).
• South Dakota Mines is 2nd in the RMAC in scoring defense, as the squad allows 67.9 points per game. The team's +6.9 scoring margin is 4th in the league. SDM&T has 8.6 3-pointers made per game to rank 5th in the conference.
• The Hardrockers are shooting 40.1 percent from long range to rank 3rd in the RMAC, while their 48 percent from the field sits 4th.
• South Dakota Mines ranks 4th in the RMAC in assist/turnover ratio at +1.1 and are 5th in rebounding margin with a +4.0 mark.
• SD Mines has three scoring in double figures, guided by Alec Williams' 14.4 points per game. He has 4.7 rebounds per game and leads the team in assists (3.5) and steals (1.6) per contest. His steals effort is good for T-7th in the league.
• Mitchell Sueker adds 12.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest. Logan Elers contributes 10.8 points per game on 59.8 percent shooting from the field. He leads the Hardrockers with 5.7 rebounds per game.
THE YELLOW JACKETS
• The Yellow Jackets have swarmed opponents the last nine games to pick up nine straight victories. BHSU is 12-5 overall and own a 9-2 RMAC record that is tied for the league lead. The Yellow Jackets have played 11 of their 17 games at home and are 9-2 in those contests with a 2-3 mark in true road games. Black Hills State added to their home record last weekend with wins against UCCS (66-64) and Mines (65-61).
• BHSU is holding its opponents to 68.9 points per game to rank 3rd in the RMAC, while their +6.2 scoring margin is 5th.
• The Yellow Jackets are shooting 50.3 percent from the field to sit 2nd in the conference.
• Black Hills State ranks 3rd in the RMAC in rebounding margin with a +4.6 mark.
• The Yellow Jackets have four players in double figures, led by Joel Scott's 16.7 points per game that sits 5th in the RMAC. He adds 5.6 rebounds per contest and is shooting 60.9 percent from the field to lead the conference.
• Tyler Oliver owns 15.1 points per game, while his 8.0 rebounds per contest is not only a team best but sits 2nd in the RMAC. He has the team-lead with 71 assists, a 4.2 average that ranks 5th in the RMAC. He guard also has 33 steals, which is 1.9 takeaways per game that places him 4th in the conference.
• Trey Whitley chips in 12.4 points per game and has the 4th-best free throw percentage in the conference at 88.9 percent. Stefan Desnica owns 11.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
