PUEBLO, Colo. (September 5, 2019) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer team opened the 2019 season at home Thursday and faced a tall task in No. 10 West Texas A&M, falling 2-0 in front of a large crowd at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
CSU-Pueblo created numerous chances to score while in front of the goal during the first half. The Pack saw three shots that sailed just high and wide of the net during a three-minute span.
At halftime, the ThunderWolves fired six shots and earned two corner kicks to WTAMU's one corner attempt.
Despite holding the visiting team to no goals in the first half, the Lady Buffs scored both goals just minutes into the second half and both scores came under seven minutes apart.
The Pack was limited to one shot in the second half and was led in the contest by Pack newcomer
Litzy Serna (Jr., Mid. West Jordan, Utah) who finished with two shots.
As a team, CSU-Pueblo finished with seven shots and two corner kicks.
Between the posts, Pack goalkeeper
Rylie Martin (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) made five saves and faced 16 shots from the Lady Buffs.
CSU-Pueblo (0-1-0) remains at home and will finish opening weekend Saturday at 12 p.m. against Lubbock Christian in a nonconference tilt at Gonzales Stadium.
