PUEBLO, Colo. (Sept. 16, 2019) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's tennis team hosted the Pueblo Duals Thursday-Sunday and totaled five matches at Pueblo City Park.
The women's team finished 0-5 and scored three teams points. The Pack lost 6-1 to University of Texas-Permian Basin, Dixie State University and Fort Hays State University and fell 7-0 to Dallas Baptist University and Newman University. The ThunderWolves played four freshman who earned some valuable experience.
Moving up to the No. 1 singles spot this season, junior
Kali Hamilton (Grapevine, Texas) went 2-3 on the weekend. She picked up her first dual win of the season against UT-Permian Basin's Melissa Ariza on Thursday. After losing the first set 2-6, she won the second set 6-3 and then posted a 10-3 third set tiebreak score to take the match. The junior added her second win of the Duals when she defeated Isabel Heras of Dixie State, 7-5, 6-4.
Playing No. 2 and No. 3 singles all weekend, senior
Sarah Megilligan (Pueblo West, Colo.) took a set in her match against UT-Permian Basin's Maria Briones at the No. 3 spot. She fell 2-6, 6-1, 3-6.
The Pack conclude the fall portion of their schedule with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Central Regional Sept. 26-29 in Arlington, Texas and hosted by Dallas Baptist.
