Box Score HAYS, Kan. (September 15, 2019) - Colorado State University-Pueblo women's soccer wrapped its nonconference schedule Sunday, falling 2-0 against Washburn University on a neutral pitch at Fort Hays State University Soccer Stadium in Hays, Kan.
On a sweltering day, both teams battled the 90-plus degree temps and combined for twenty-one shots. For a third straight game CSU-Pueblo outshot the opposition, firing thirteen shots and landing nine on frame.
Cara Siegel (Jr., F, Pueblo, Colo.) led the Pack with four shots with three on goal. Two other ThunderWolves recorded at least two shots in the game.
Washburn scored both of their goals in a one-minute and eleven second span. The first score came at the five-minute mark when WU took the ball down field and two passes were fed ahead to a forward who shot it low and to the left past the defense.
Shortly after, the Ichabods gained possession and another shot to lower left found the back of the net and extended the lead for Washburn, 2-0.
Down two, the ThunderWolves defense came together and the play at midfield improved as CSU-Pueblo gathered the ball and began their offensive attack.Â
The ThunderWolves created several chances at the net, earning eight corner kick chances.

Rylie Martin (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) made two saves at the net.
CSU-Pueblo (1-3) returns home and will begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play Friday and host No. 11 University of Colorado Colorado Springs at 7 p.m. at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
