It is the first time a Pack player hit three homers in a game since March 6, 2011 when Carrie Henry hit three against Nebraska-Kearney. The RMAC record of four was set in 2017.
Burpee's three dingers puts her in a tie at second in the RMAC Record Book homeruns in a game category.
Pack pitcher
Taylor Strupp (Fr., San Tan Valley, Ariz.) picked up her second win of the weekend after throwing four innings in game one. The freshman allowed four earned runs and scattered seven hits.
Burpee put the offense on her back from the start as she circled the bases in each of her first three at bats, all of which had one runner on base.
Leading off the fourth inning,
Hailey Hicks (Jr., Meridian, Idaho) hit her fourth bomb of the season to begin a six-run inning for the ThunderWolves.
Jordan Sheard (Sr., Broomfield, Colo.) and
Sabrina Felix (Jr., Corona, Calif.) each recorded hits for RBIs.
Burpee later stepped to the plate with one out and helped the Pack build a 10-2 lead going to the fifth inning.
The Grizzlies scored three times in their next at bat on three hits including a bases clearing double.
In the home half of the fifth, the Pack took advantage of two miscues on the defensive end and scored three runs in the inning to finish off ASU in run-rule fashion, 13-5.
The nightcap, Adams used a six-run third inning to build a commanding lead. After going scoreless in the first two innings, Pack hurler
Samantha Riesen (Sr., Independence, Calif.) gave up four hits to ASU before
Hannah Anderson (Jr., Spokane, Wash.) came on for a second time on the day in relief.
Anderson gave up a three-run homerun and before getting out of the inning.
The ThunderWolves recorded one hit in each of four innings before getting on the board in the seventh. Burpee led off the inning with a solo shot to the deepest part of the park and
Gabby Moreno (Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz.) hit an RBI-single and a flyout ended the game 7-2 in favor of the Grizzlies.
CSU-Pueblo (9-21, 8-18 RMAC) goes on the road next week and plays in a pod series against Colorado Mesa and Regis University in Grand Junction, Colo.
